For seventy years the Mu Omega and Beta Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated have proudly hosted the annual Debutante Ball. The Debutante Ball is the culmination of a season long program for Debutantes, at the time of their presentation, who are either high school seniors or first semester freshman in college with the following goals:​

• To encourage, strengthen and recognize educational, cultural and social development of high school young ladies through workshops, community involvement, and a formal Ball,

• To promote high ethical standards, unity and friendship,

• To reinforce positive values, ethics and life skills learned from life experiences,

• To introduce new thoughts and ideas, which prepare the young ladies for assimilation into a diverse society.

​In keeping with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s purpose of “cultivation and encouraging high scholastic standards”, the Mu Omega and Beta Omega Chapters have, through the years, provided scholarships and awards to participants in the Debutante Program. Scholarship monies are raised through the solicitation of advertisements from businesses and individuals throughout the community and these ads are placed in the Annual Debutante Ball Souvenir Journal. Mu Omega Chapter is pleased to partner with our Metropolitan Leadership Institiute Foundation to obtain ads and produce the annual Debutante Ball Souvenir Journal.
